How to Make a Flannel Self-Binding Receiving Blanket

I’ve teamed up with Flannel Queen to bring you a tutorial this fast, easy, and adorable Self-Binding Receiving Blanket.

These blankets seriously take about 30 minutes tops to make, and are the perfect gift for every newborn on your list! Whip up a bunch so you always have a last minute gift on hand.

The main fabric for these little blankets is a soft and cozy flannel from Riley Blake Designs, called Flower Power, which was taken from my Copacetic fabric line.

Flannel Queen has created kits for these adorable blankets, featuring the fabrics you see here + a printed copy of instructions.

These blankets require just two pieces of fabric. The magic in them is that the back fabric becomes the adorable border on the front. So clever!

Along with the printed pattern, I have also created a video tutorial which you can use to help guide you through the process. Once you make one blanket, you’ll see just how simple these really are to put together.
